BRO SHANE ALMONTE ASSUMES ALPHA PHI OMEGA AUSTRALIA PRESIDENCY
Elevating to higher level the programs under the banner of Leadership, Friendship and Service was the battlecry that catapulted Bro. Shane Almonte (Eta Omega ’86) to the presidency of Alpha Phi Omega Australia Inc. for Development Year 2006-2008.  Induction of APO President (in blue) It was during the 13th Annual General Membership Meeting held at Erskine Park, New South Wales, Australia last 18 June 2006 were the new members of APO Australia Executive Council members were elected. Others who were elected were : Vice President for External Affairs-Ronaldo Villaver (Zeta Epsilon ’80), Vice President for Internal Affairs-Bernard Marcos, Jr (Gamma Beta ’77); Executive Secretary-Rosanna Rigor-Rodriguez (Delta Sigma ‘84b); Treasurer-Norman Capulong (Theta ’76); Auditor-Gerry Musa (Delta Iota ’76) and Press Relations Officer-Prince Marl Gonzales (Nu ’91). Formulation of development plans were held in an informal meetings and discussions that took place after the election and the first meeting of the APO Australia Executive Council members was conducted on the 2nd July 2006 at Doonside, NSW. President Almonte, the former Vice-President of Samahang Alpha Phi Omega ng Tondo (SAPOT), in his message after the oath-taking ceremony mentioned that the executive council members shall work as one team to manage the affairs of APO-Australia Inc. The outgoing executive council members among others were around to witness the induction proceedings. Past President Jimmy Ahillon (Delta Eta ’76) was the inducting officer. Highlights of the meeting discussed after the induction were : 1) Approval of the Development Plans 2006-2008 with its three program components of LEADERSHIP, FRIENDSHIP and SERVICE. Various projects were identified in every program component and will be disseminated soon. 2) Improving Financial Management of APO Australia. 3) Chapter Establishment, Development and Operation. 4) Approval of the appointments of Francisco ‘Boy” Medina (Pi ’73) and Don Loste (Beta ‘82a) as Marshalls/Sgts-At-Arm, among other relevant programs and projects (APO Australia Inc can be contacted at

Calling all members of Alpha Phi Omega Australia Inc (APO-Australia), community groups and individuals to get down and dirty and help plant National Tree Day’s 10 millionth tree. Last year, 350,000 volunteers planted over 1.5 million native trees at more than 4,000 sites.  Tree day volunteers. This year’s ‘National Tree Day’ is being celebrated at Minchinbury Reserve, Minchinbury, NSW 2770 on 30 July 2006. Project Officer and Vice President for External Affairs Ronaldo Villaver of APO-Australia Inc says that volunteers are welcome to join in and help out on the day. Planting begins at 9:00 AM and the site is located at Minchin Drive, Minchinbury. Volunteers should bring gloves, a hat and wear sunscreen.
