WHAT IS ALPHA PHI OMEGA?

ALPHA PHI OMEGA is an international service fraternity and sorority. We are an organization dedicated to serving mankind and developing ourselves to become leaders and friends to humanity. To those ends, we create our own democracy. We train our people to be excellent leaders and creative team members. We open our hearts and minds to people and show that the newest generation of adults do care. Alpha Phi Omega is destined to be one of the greatest fraternities in the world because it has as its foundation the highest ideals of the ages, the most perfect standard the generations have been able to produce, a standard accepted by all nations, all religions and all people, one where the motivating idea is to look for the good and to try to do good to everyone regardless of who or what belief, and furthermore has the practical application in most commendable educational social services.

 INSTITUTIONAL  POLICY
An institution of fraternal excellence is potent and viable only when it can effectively and efficiently integrate and utilize its resources towards the development of a well-rounded individual who will ultimately become productive and competent leader of the community.

 OUR VISION
We envision to be the leading international service organization committed to the development of a world class membership that cares for the quality of life with complete complement guided by the three cardinal principles of... Leadership, Friendship and Service.

OUR MISSION
To assemble men and women in the fellowship of Scouth Oath and Law, to develop leadership, to promote friendship and to provide service to humanity; and to further the freedom that is national, educational and intellectual heritage.

OUR GOALS
To develop among the members their full potential for self-actualization, productivity and social usefulness to effectively contribute to national development. Likewise, to inculcate and enhance positive values among the members vital to moral regeneration and social transformation.

DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES

To actively participate in the implementation of government programs/projects and activities;
To develop and promote integrated economic, educational and socio-cultural development programs for the members and the people in the community;
To assist the government in the implementation of the Anti-Hazing Law;
To strengthen its administrative machinery and to improve its financial resource management;
To promote sustainable income generating projects; and,
To establish linkages with government and non-government organizations here and in abroad to ensure the needed support projects and services in the community.

ABOUT APO AUSTRALIA

1.1 Chronology of Events

      1989 - Meeting by chance among two (2) alumni from Eta Chapter (University of the Philippines) at Circular Quay, Sydney in December (Albert Ranoso and Peter Vela).

               - A reunion attended among fraternity brothers and sorority sisters residing in Sydney Metropolitan areas was held at Clovelly, a suburb in eastern Sydney (Albert Ranoso).

      1990 - Rekindling old ties among members of
APO was held at Bronte Beach on 24 Feb. Members grew in

number just by word of mouth (Albert Ranoso, Peter Vela, Jonathan Mejia, Edgar Dadios, Jojo Lovero and Trish Ureta).

               - First APO Australia President Albert Ranoso was elected.

               - Alpha Phi Omega Australia Incorporated was organised and officially registered with the Business and Consumer Affairs of NSW in
Sydney, Australia as a non-profit organisation on 23 November under the Associations Incorporation Act of 1984.

      1993 - On 23 September, the elected executive board of APO Australia Inc. presided by Jojo Lovero, made an affiliation with the Scouts Association of Australia to form the 1st Philippine Eagle Scout Group with the aim at serving youths of ethnic origin.

      1996 - APO Australia made a bold step with the recruitment of tertiary students thereby commencing the introduction of
APO in Australian colleges and universities, particularly in NSW.

               - A group of university students were interviewed and screened and were later indoctrinated to uphold the principles of leadership, friendship & service of
APO. Seven (7) pledgees who belong to the "The Seven Golden Eagles" and who were mostly teenage children of local APO Australia alumni members successfully completed the pilot program. The Standard Training and Procedures were implemented attuned to the socio -cultural settings in Australia. Successive pledge batches were followed and accepted into the ranks of APO Australia.


      1997 - APO Australia Alumni Association was granted official recognition as Chapter 75 during the 19th Biennial Convention in
Baguio City in May.

      2003 - Edgar Sanchez became President of APO-Australia together with the other members of Executive Council during the election held on 26 January at Quakers Hill, NSW.

     2006 -  Shane Almonte was elected President of APO Australia during the 13th General Membership Meeting and Election at Erskine Park, NSW on 18 June.
